And in other Morecambe news, the 56-year-old mugging victim said, "I lashed out, and he swung a piece of sandstone at me." The holdup weapon of choice in Morecambe these days appears to be the 'rock', as opposed to the slightly more technologically advanced Lancaster, where the medieval morningstar is de rigueur (see 'Medieval style weapon used in street assault in Lancaster' http://goo.gl/t0eAvo). One thing that surprised me is that he had the presence of mind to identify the rock type in those frantic moments of fighting for his life. Perhaps he thought, oh, thank god it's just sandstone and not oolitic limestone, or then I'd be in real trouble.
